Frequently Asked Questions
Is it worth cremating a pet?
For many families, pet cremation is not about cost — it’s about closure and remembrance.
Cremation allows you to say goodbye in a respectful way and, for private cremation, keep your pet’s ashes as a lasting memorial. Some families find comfort in having an urn or keepsake, while others simply value the dignity of the process.
There is no “right” or “wrong” choice — only what feels right for you and your pet.
How long after a pet dies can you cremate them?
In most cases, pets can be cremated within 24 to 72 hours after passing, depending on storage conditions and arrangements.
Veterinary clinics often provide temporary care until cremation can be arranged. At Celestials, we guide families on the appropriate timing and can arrange respectful pick-up when needed, including after-hours.
If you’re unsure what to do immediately after your pet passes, it’s best to contact us for guidance.
How much does it cost to have my pet put to sleep and cremated?
The cost can vary depending on:
- Whether euthanasia is performed by a veterinarian
- The type of cremation chosen (private or communal)
- Any memorial options selected (urns or keepsakes)
Veterinary euthanasia fees are typically separate from cremation services.
For cremation, private cremation generally costs more than communal cremation because ashes are returned to the family.
We recommend contacting us directly so we can explain the options clearly and help you choose what’s appropriate for your situation.

How does the pet cremation process work?
Once we receive your pet, they are identified and prepared for cremation. Our secure tracking system ensures they are handled with the utmost care throughout the process. After cremation, the ashes are carefully collected and either returned to you in an urn of your choice or respectfully dispersed according to your wishes.
What is the difference between private and communal cremation?
Private cremation is performed individually with ashes returned. Communal cremation is a shared option where ashes are not returned.
Can you collect my pet from home or a veterinary clinic?
Yes, we can arrange collection from homes or veterinary clinics, depending on your location and circumstances.
Do you offer after-hours support?
After-hours assistance may be available. Please contact our team directly if you require urgent support.
Do you really get your pet’s ashes back?
Yes — with private pet cremation, you receive only your pet’s ashes.
Celestials uses individual cremation with identification tracking to ensure the ashes returned belong solely to your pet. Ashes are then placed in the urn or memorial option you select.
With communal cremation, ashes are not returned, as pets are cremated together.
How long does it take to receive my pet’s ashes?
The cremation process typically takes between 3 to 5 business days. We will notify you once your pet’s ashes are ready for collection or delivery. Expedited services are available upon request.
What urn options do you provide?
We offer a variety of handmade urns, keepsake, and memorial items to honour your pet. To make decisions easier, you can also choose from our packages collection, and we can assist in selecting the most suitable option for your needs.
